Please enjoy the latest happenings from the United Jewish Federation of Tidewater

September 10, 2021

Super Sunday is at the JCC This Weekend!

Super Sunday is here! The kick-off to our Federation's campaign year starts this Sunday, September 12, at 10 AM. Our dedicated campaign and development team — alongside board members and enthusiastic community leaders — will be outside under a big tent making calls for pledges to our 2022 campaign. There's still room to join us for breakfast and great community spirit; click the link below to sign up for a slot to make calls that benefit our JCC and many affiliated programs. Similarly, if you have pledged a gift in the past PLEASE take the call from one of our community members between 10 AM and 1 PM this Sunday, and let us know how you can support. Last, if you have not pledged a gift in the past but may be interested in hearing how it helps the Jewish community at-large, email Matthew Kramer-Morning (MKMorning@UJFT.org) to learn how you can make a difference.

Artist Reception: Pivot to Online, plus...

The artist reception for the Lorraine Fink Retrospective: Then, Now, & Looking Forward, is pivoting to a virtual experience. Those who RSVP'ed for the reception — and anyone who has yet to — can expect a wonderful program, including a live Zoom call with Lorraine Fink herself. After she shares a story or two surrounding the works now on display (through October) at the Leon Family Gallery and into the JCC public spaces, we'll reveal a surprise of our own. Stay tuned! And RSVP below to receive the Zoom link for the reception... in the comfort of your own home.  For more information contact Jill Grossman, JGrossman@UJFT.org

Two Events with Author Stephen Fried to Bring Mental Health Out of the Shadows

This collaborative program is presented by the Milton “Mickey” Kramer Scholar in Residence Fund of the Congregation Beth El Foundation’s Tidewater Together, in partnership with Jewish Family Service of Tidewater... Two separate evenings with acclaimed author and investigative journalist Stephen Fried.

Sunday, October 3, at 5:30 PM, we'll enjoy a timely discussion between Fried and local Jewish clergy on the topic of "Brain Health and Faith."

The following evening, Monday, October 4, at 7:30 PM, Fried will join representatives from Jewish Family Service of Tidewater, and other local mental health professionals to discuss work being done here in Hampton Roads to address the mental well-being of our community, what work still needs to be done, and how you can help.
