SHAVUOT GATHERINGS GET A BOOST FROM PJ LIBRARY

THURSDAY, MAY 25 - MAY 31

Shavuot is a Jewish holiday that encourages us to gather with friends and enjoy one another's company. Traditional observances for Shavuot include ice cream socials, storytelling around a campfire, craft-making and even camping. But sometimes we just need a little push to get the wheels turning...

PJ Library is offering to help families get things started with a reimbursement (up to $100) to help you host a Shavuot gathering, which can include ice cream, marshmallows, crafting supplies, campsite reservations or other hosting expenses. All you need to do is click over to THIS website and apply with the code provided on the site (it's MX29EA) and start planning your gathering with friends and family!

For more information or ideas on how you can celebrate here in Tidewater, contact Youth & Family Program Coordinator, Nofar Trem (757) 965-2334.

SUMMER SUNDAY FUN DAYS ANNOUNCED: SIGN UP NOW

JUNE 4, JULY 9, & AUGUST 13  •  1:00 - 4:00 PM on the SANDLER FAMILY CAMPUS

The Simon Family JCC in partnership with PJ Library in Tidewater, presents monthly "Sunday Fun Days." These afternoon parties at our Metzger Outdoor Aquatic Center and water park are open to JCC members, Strelitz and Camp JCC families, members of all our regional synagogues, and Young Adult Division (YAD) members and their families. Guests of any of these groups are allowed to attend a Sunday Fun Day — with the purchase of a JCC day pass at the JCC Front Desk.

NEW THIS YEAR will be a kosher hot dog and hamburger stand with food for purchase.

Sunday Fun Days are filled with games, water toys, friends, and music around the outdoor pools. The Kona Ice truck doles out heaping cups of deliciously flavored ice. And lifeguards and JCC staff insure your kids have a great time.

While Sunday Fun Days are free for members, we do ask that you register for the events so staff can plan accordingly. You can see all the dates and sign up at JewishVA.org/SundayFunDay

NOTE: The August 13 Sunday Fun Day will also be the community's Farewell Party for our shinshinim, Aya & Alma, as they embark on their next adventure... serving in the Israeli Defense Forces!

MOON CIRCLE GATHERING IN JUNE

THURSDAY, JUNE 15, 6:45 PM  •  Sandler Family Campus

We invite you into a tradition that spans thousands of years: a monthly holiday known as Rosh Chodesh, meaning "head of the month." In the Jewish tradition, each month begins with a new moon, and the Hebrew calendar is the way the Jewish people have kept time for millennia. This gathering is a time to connect more deeply with ourselves, each other and the sacred flow of the Hebrew calendar.

For the past few centuries, Rosh Chodesh has been one of Judaism's best-kept secrets. We're breathing new life into it by coming together for self-reflection and rituals that will help us connect with this ancient legacy, learn from Jewish wisdom and embrace the unique spiritual energy of each month.

The Monthly Moon Circle is presented by Konikoff Center for Learning; attending the event is free, however a $7 donation is suggested.

Sign up HERE to attend the last Moon Circle Meet-Up.
