YOM HA'ATZMAUT 2022: OUR COMMUNITY CELEBRATED AT ISRAEL FEST!

We had an incredible community-wide celebration of Israel at 74 that took place on Sunday, May 1st. This year’s Yom Ha'Atzmaut celebration, presented by Avraham & Karen Ashkenazi, included our local Jewish agencies, synagogues, schools, and other organizations who joined hand-in-hand to ensure the day was the success that it was!

We will be sharing photos and a video of the event on our website soon. The photos here clearly show people of all ages enjoying all-things-Israel, as well as the vibrant Jewish culture that was on display. From the incredible food of Meat Carneval and their energetic team, to all the volunteers who served it; to those who shared their "Israel story" with Rabbi Panitz, the outdoor yoga and chair massages, kids crafts and games under our new Marty Einhorn Pavilion, the dunk tank and camel rides... we're already excited to plan for next year!

A huge THANK YOU to our sponsors: Zim Integrated Shipping Services, Harbor Group International, Mercedes-Benz of Virginia Beach, Dominion Energy, CHKD, Centura College, International Longshoremen's Association, Fairlead, Mid-Atlantic Maritime Academy, & Rox.

EXPERIENCE OUR JEWISH ART CLASS FREE, IN PERSON OR FROM HOME

MAY 16, 12 PM

There are only 2 more Jewish Art Education classes available this Spring; the next is this Monday, May 16th at noon. Instructor and art historian Nancy Kotz will teach a class on "The Art of Tikkun Olam / Fixing The World." As Jews are charged to perform acts of kindness and repair the world, how has this been reflected in our art? We'll look back and discuss examples. Plus, this (and the next class on May 23rd featuring the works of Mark Chagall) will have a "maker" element; you'll have the change to participate in a hands-on art activity!

Furthermore, for those attending this program in person, lunch is included. You can also stream this class from home. Thanks to a generous donor, all JAE classes are free. Click below to register. For questions, email Sierra at: SLautman@UJFT.org
