Unpacking Antisemitism: An Action Based Workshop

A startling exploration of Jewish History...

Presented by Old Dominion University’s Institute for Jewish Studies and Interfaith Understanding with the
Jewish Community Relations Council and Konikoff Center for Learning of the United Jewish Federation of Tidewater, as part of the United Jewish Federation of Tidewater & Simon Family JCC’s Lee and Bernard Jaffe Family Jewish Book Festival.

• “How did we get here?” - A fast-paced session--co-facilitated by Amy Milligan (Director, Institute for Jewish Studies and Interfaith Understanding at Old Dominion University) and Robert Nusbaum Center Director Craig Wansink--to establish a basis for the day by exploring the basic roots of antisemitism and the repackaging of those historical roots in 21st Century antisemitism. 
• “Antisemitism today”, an informative discussion of the facts, figures, and trends of antisemitism in 2021, featuring representatives from the ADL, FBI, and police
• “An antisemitism toolkit for allies and Jews” with VCIC director Jonathan Zur, discussing what you can do to help address antisemitism in real and concrete ways
• “In the Haunted Present” with keynote speaker Dara Horn, exploring her thought-provoking work with direct and engaging access to her research and writing
