Berkley: A Look Into The Heart of A Neighborhood.
Step back in time and immerse yourself in the rich cultural heritage of the Berkley Jewish community. Delve into the heartwarming journey of family traditions and cherished recipes passed down through generations, featured in the book, "Nana Lena's Kitchen," a heartfelt tribute to Lena's culinary legacy, lovingly documented by her granddaughter, Amy Ostrower.
In addition to the culinary journey, this program showcases an exhibit on life in an American "shtetl" that existed right here in Tidewater.
Presented in partnership by the Jewish Museum and Cultural Center and the Konikoff Center for Learning of the United Jewish Federation of Tidewater.
Sponsored in part by the Virginia Foundation for the Humanities.
Thanks to the generous support of the Bartel Family, in honor of their parents and grandparents, Alan & Dolores Bartel, the following accessibility accommodations are available for these community programs (depending on the program location). Accommodations must be requested at least a week prior to the event.
