Virtual Author Event w/ Meir Shalev from Chysler Museum

SUNDAY, NOV. 21, 2:00 PM

Join us for a virtual discussion of My Wild Garden: Notes from a Writer's Eden by Meir Shalev. The book club is inspired by the Chrysler's current exhibition, If You Thirst for a Homeland: Flame-worked glass by Dafna Kaffeman. Both Kaffeman and Shalev find inspiration in the beauty and fragility of the natural environment.

This program is presented in partnership with the 11th Annual Israel Today Series presented by the Jewish Community Relations Council of the United Jewish Federation of Tidewater, Simon Family JCC, and Community Partners, who will be sponsoring a virtual appearance by the author at this free program. Registration is required. The Zoom link will be sent on the day of the event.

"Barry" Screenwriter & Author Adam Mansbach Returns!

WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 8, 7:30 PM

In partnership with the Lee and Bernard Jaffe Family Jewish Book Festival and Jewish Family Service of Tidewater.

Mansbach was in the middle of his own busy life, and approaching a career-high when the words from his father, “David has taken his own life” opened a chasm beneath his feet. I Had a Brother Once is the story of everything that comes after. In the shadow of David’s inexplicable death, Adam is forced to reckon with the ghost of a brother he thought he knew, confront his unsettled family history and distant relationship with tradition and faith, and reconcile with the desperate need to understand an event that always escapes his grasp.

This FREE and open to the community program is ONLINE ONLY. Pre-registration required.
